Keihoku Introduction Plan

Perfect for first-time visitors to rural Japan.

Leave the crowds behind and discover a slower rhythm of life in Kyoto's hidden countryside.

This two-day journey gently guides you from the busy pace of the city into the peaceful world of satoyama. Walk beside a quiet waterfall, enjoy local food, meet local craftspeople and spend a night living in a traditional Japanese farmhouse.

Rather than simply sightseeing, this itinerary lets you experience how people actually live in rural Japan.

Reset Yourself at Takimata Falls

Start your journey with a short walk to the secluded Takimata Falls.

Unlike Kyoto's famous tourist attractions, this hidden waterfall is usually quiet, allowing you to slow down, breathe deeply and leave the city's pace behind. The fresh mountain air and the sound of flowing water create the perfect beginning for your satoyama experience.

Fermented Brown Rice

Brown rice and azuki beans are slowly cooked and aged for more than three days to develop a soft, chewy texture and rich flavor.

Even guests who don't usually enjoy brown rice are often surprised by its comforting taste.

Prepared in advance and kept warm for your convenience, it's ready to enjoy whenever you wake up.

Freshly Cooked Egg-over-Rice

Start your morning by cooking locally grown white rice from Keihoku yourself.

Once the rice is freshly steamed, top it with an egg from a local poultry farm and a drizzle of homemade soy sauce. Simple ingredients, carefully produced, come together to create one of Japan's most beloved breakfasts.
